Product Safety

1. Scope and Precedence of Specific Instructions

This document contains general safety rules for cat furniture, wall-mounted elements, beds, textile accessories and toys offered by Lilly’s. The specific product instructions, information on the product page, product identification and safety warnings take precedence over this general document.

Use the product only for its intended purpose and for the animal, size, weight and environment specified for the product. Unless expressly stated otherwise, cat furniture is not intended for sitting, climbing on or being loaded by people or children.

2. Before First Use

Before installation and use:

  1. check that the package contains all listed parts and that none are damaged;
  2. read the complete instructions and safety information;
  3. verify the maximum load capacity, intended environment and surface requirements;
  4. keep small parts, packaging, plastic film and installation materials out of reach of children and animals;
  5. do not use the product if an important part, instructions or safety information is missing.

Do not dispose of the packaging until you have confirmed that the product is complete. Plastic film and bags may present a suffocation hazard.

3. Wall-Mounted Furniture and Fixing

3.1 Assessing the Wall

The safety of a wall-mounted product depends on correctly assessing the wall. Before installation, check its material, thickness, condition and load-bearing capacity, the location of electrical wiring, water pipes or other services, and the suitability of the chosen installation location.

Plasterboard, hollow masonry, aerated concrete, old or crumbling plaster and other specific surfaces require an appropriate anchoring system. A universal wall plug may not be suitable for every surface. If you are unable to assess the surface, have the installation carried out by a suitably qualified person.

3.2 Fixing Materials

Use anchoring and fastening materials suitable for the specific type of wall, the weight of the product and the expected load. If installation materials are included in the package, verify that they are suitable for your wall; the fact that fixing materials are supplied does not mean they are universally suitable.

Follow the number, position, diameter and depth of fixing points specified in the instructions. Do not omit fixing components or replace them with weaker parts.

3.3 Placement

Position the product so that, if it were to become loose, it would not endanger people, animals, glass, electrical equipment or other objects. Consider the cat’s approach and landing path, the distance between elements and the possibility of a safe jump down.

Do not install the product above a cot, bed, workstation or another place where people remain for prolonged periods, unless such placement has been professionally designed and secured.

4. Load Capacity and Dynamic Loads

The maximum load capacity stated for the product must not be exceeded. Include the weight of all animals and objects placed on the product. Jumping and landing create greater dynamic forces than static loading; therefore, use the product only in the manner anticipated by the instructions.

Do not allow simultaneous use by multiple animals if their combined weight or dynamic load could exceed the permitted limit. Do not attach additional objects, ropes or toys to the product unless this is expressly permitted.

5. Post-Installation Checks and Regular Maintenance

After installation and before first use, check the product for stability and ensure all fixings are properly tightened. Check the product again after the first few days of use, after a strong impact, relocation, exposure to moisture or any other event that may have affected its safety.

Regularly check in particular:

  • the security of anchors and joints;
  • any looseness, wobbling or change in position;
  • cracks, deformation, chipping or surface damage;
  • wear of textiles, seams, ropes, sisal and fixing points;
  • corrosion, moisture or damage to the wall around the fixing points;
  • loose small parts that could be swallowed.

Stop using any loose, unstable, cracked or otherwise damaged product immediately. Prevent the animal from accessing it until it has been safely repaired or replaced.

6. Toys and Interactive Elements

No pet toy is indestructible. Inspect the toy appropriately before each use. Use it under supervision if it contains strings, feathers, small parts, flexible components or other elements that could be bitten off or swallowed.

Remove any damaged toy, or any part that is beginning to come loose, from the animal. Do not leave long cords, loops or hanging elements freely accessible without supervision unless the product instructions specify a safe method for continuous use.

Cat toys are not children’s toys. Keep them out of reach of small children.

7. Textiles, Beds and Cleaning

Follow the care symbols and cleaning instructions. Before washing, remove any parts that are not intended to be washed. Do not use aggressive chemicals, solvents or cleaning methods that may weaken the material, adhesive, seams or surface finish.

Allow the product to dry completely before further use. Damp wood, textiles or filling materials may change their properties and encourage mould growth. If you notice mould, a strong odour, deterioration of the material or another health or safety issue, do not use the product.

8. Environment and Prohibited Modifications

Use the product in the environment specified on the product page. Products intended for indoor use must not be exposed to rain, prolonged moisture, direct heat sources or extreme temperatures.

Do not drill additional holes into the product, shorten load-bearing components, modify the fixing system or add accessories unless expressly permitted by the manufacturer. Improper modification may affect the product’s load capacity and safety.

9. Animals with Special Needs

For kittens, older, ill, injured or mobility-impaired cats, adapt the height, spacing and landing areas to their abilities. Supervise initial use and verify that the animal can safely get both up and down.

The product is not a medical device. If the animal has a health condition or mobility limitation, consult a veterinarian regarding the suitability of use.

10. Product Identification and Safety Information
